The past few weeks at Adelea's have included the celebration of our 1 year anniversary, the creation of several special packages, and the addition of some new events. Most recently, Kelly has been hard at work making the pizza oven come to life. Needless to say, we have been very busy.
Our First Annual Anniversary Celebration and Picnic on the Lawn was a complete and utter success. We had so much fun and know (because you all have told us) that you did too. The Steering South band was amazing and gave everyone a reason to dance. We even ended the night with birthday cake and sparkly candles. It was a celebration we will never forget and we thank everyone from our parents to the Salado community who have helped us to meet this milestone. You can view the photos on our facebook page at

We've also added a very special page to our website. The Special Packages tab is a place for people to go when they are in need of a special day or night. We have worked with Salado's finest merchants to pull together packages that will make your time in Salado fun and interesting. We have a special occasion dinner for two that features champagne, flowers, and dinner by candlelight all in a private room. Our picnic package features a picnic basket filled with your choice of snacks which could include wine, cheese, sandwiches, dessert, and champagne and comes complete with a picnic basket, utensils, cups, and plates, and a cozy blanket. All you have to supply is the place to picnic...we of course vote for our favorite spot right on the banks of Salado Creek by the Serena Statue but feel free to find your own. We are also working on a wine tasting for two followed by dinner, dinner and then a show at the Silver Spur Theater, and a private art tour of one of our famous galleries followed by hors d'oeurves and wine on our patio and dinner, and finally lunch at Adelea's followed up with an afternoon of spa treatments that can include a massage, reflexology, a facial, a manicure and a pedicure. All you have to do is call us here at Adelea's and we will arrange everything for you. We are constantly looking for new ideas so please check back with us often. We have also added several events to our calendar that are not yet up on the website. Here is a sampling of our planned events for 2009:
- The Salado Chocolate Festival Champagne Brunch is on Sunday, September 27th and will be a one seating only gourmet meal featuring chocolate and several champagne cocktails. Click here to read about it and find out how to make your reservations.
- Murder at the Juice Joint We are also planning a Murder Mystery dinner on Friday, October 30th. This will be a 1920's themed event as Adelea's becomes The Juice Joint, a Prohibition Era Speakeasy. Paula Lohse will lead the evening as she plays the owner and lounge singer Rosie Marie. This evening will be a one seating only type of event so call now to make your reservations. We will only sell 44 tickets to this very special event. Dinner and entertainment will be included in the price which will be announced soon but alcohol will be separate (after all it is during prohibition so technically we aren't even supposed to sell alcohol).
- Nutcracker Tea In December, Adelea's is organizing a Nutcracker Tea in conjunction with Vive Les Arts Theatre's production of The Nutcracker. The tea will be kid friendly and offer a meet and greet with the ballerinas who star in the show. Tutu's and tea...how could you not want to bring your little ballet lover to this event?
- A New Year's Eve Party We plan to have a jazz band, a four course dinner, and a champagne toast to welcome in 2010. All of these special events will be one seating only so call 254.947.0018 to schedule your evening of fun now!
Kelly has also been hard at work building the pizza oven on our patio. He has now leveled the area and packed it and is in the process of laying down the pavers. Next he will begin building the base for the oven and then we will spend an entire Sunday raising the oven. Anyone who wants to help is invited to this event. I will post the official date as soon as we decide on it. We are also planning an iron chef sort of pizza competition to kick off the opening of the pizza oven in October. Kelly will compete against an opponent and their pizza creations will be judged by three expert judges with the winner taking home the Adelea's Pizza Pro Trophy. We hope to make this an annual event.
